Best VPN for Disney+ in 2026

Why the regional libraries differ, how Disney+ spots a VPN, and which providers hold up

How we score

Disney+ is unusual among the big streaming services in that almost every VPN we rank claims to handle it. Nine of the ten providers in our rankings name Disney+ among the services they unblock, so the question is not whether a provider can reach it. It is which regional library you are trying to open, how far that country is from you, and whether the provider keeps enough working addresses in it that you are not hunting for a server every second evening. This guide covers what differs between Disney+ regions, how the block works when it lands, and which picks are worth the money for this job.

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN is our pick for Disney+: the highest streaming score we award at 9.8 and the smallest speed drop of anything we rank at 2 percent, the combination that keeps a nearby server usable at full quality. NordVPN is the pick if you want a wider set of regional libraries, and Proton VPN reaches more countries than either.

What Actually Differs Between Disney+ Regions

Disney+ is sold country by country and the catalogue is assembled to match. The Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars back catalogue is the part people assume is identical everywhere, and it is the most consistent, but it is not the whole service. Third party series and films, general entertainment content and local productions are licensed regionally, which is where the libraries diverge. So does release timing: a title can arrive in one country well before another, because the rights were sold separately.

Switching region is therefore a trade rather than an upgrade. You gain whatever is licensed where you have connected and lose whatever was licensed where you were. Anyone telling you a particular country has the best Disney+ library is describing their own taste, not a fact you can check once and rely on.

The block, when it lands, is an address block. Disney+ flags addresses that resolve to data centre ranges or that have an implausible number of accounts behind them. It does not identify a VPN by brand, which is why the same provider can fail on one server and work on the next in the same city. Providers rotate addresses, the service flags the new ones, and how well a provider keeps up is what our streaming category score measures. You can compare it across every provider we rate on the main VPN rankings.

The one provider that does not name Disney+ is Mullvad VPN, which describes its own streaming support as limited and scores 6.0 from us on streaming. Everything else in our top ten names it, including the lower ranked options, so a low price alone is not a reason to rule a provider out here. Speed and country coverage are what separate them.

What to Look For

Nearby Speed

Disney+ regions are clustered, so the server you want is often close. What matters is how little throughput the tunnel costs on a short hop, not peak speed on a long one.

Region Coverage

Each country Disney+ operates in is a separate library. A provider's country count sets the ceiling on how many of them you can appear to be in.

Address Depth

Blocks land on individual server addresses. A provider with more servers has more to fall back on when one of them is flagged.

Refund Window

Whether a specific library opens for you is something you can only find out after paying, so the length of the money-back window is a practical criterion here.

VPNs to Avoid

Mullvad VPNThe one provider in our top ten that does not name Disney+, and it describes its own streaming support as limited. Its 6.0 streaming score is the lowest we award. An outstanding privacy provider that is not built for this.
Hide.meIt does name Disney+, but 53 countries is the narrowest coverage we rank apart from Mullvad's 50, and its 7.5 streaming score is the weakest among the providers naming the platform. Fewer regions, and less consistency reaching them.
Free VPNsFree tiers run the smallest pools of addresses, the first to be flagged, and they cap bandwidth. On Disney+ the cap tends to bite before detection becomes the problem, because the catalogue leans on high bitrate film content.

Getting a Region to Open, and What to Do When It Stops

Work through these in order. Most Disney+ region problems are one of the first three.

  1. 01Connect to the server before you open Disney+, not after. A session that starts on your real address holds onto it, and the app keeps reporting the region it first resolved.
  2. 02Pick the closest server inside the country you want rather than the first one listed. Distance is the main cost to throughput, and on high bitrate content that shows up as a quality drop rather than a stall.
  3. 03If you get a playback or location error, change to a different server in the same country before you change anything else. The flag is on the address, so a second address in the same city is usually all it takes.
  4. 04Clear the Disney+ cookies in a browser, or force stop the app on a phone or tablet, then reconnect. A cached region survives a server change and produces the same error on a connection that is otherwise fine.
  5. 05Confirm your DNS is resolving through the tunnel. A DNS server set by hand can report your real country while the rest of the connection is correct, which looks identical to a block from the outside.
  6. 06If every server in a country fails, change provider rather than keep changing server. Our streaming guide compares the wider platform picture, and the Netflix guide covers the same detection mechanics.
